14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Because of your unbelief.If your faith is as small as a mustard seed, you can say to a mountain, "Move over there" and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

17:24-2724 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Does your master pay the tribute?
25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
When Peter came into the house, Jesus said, "From whom do kings take tribute? People from their own country or strangers?"
26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
Peter said, "From strangers."
Jesus said to him,
Then the children are free.
But to avoid offending them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and catch the first fish that comes up.
When you have opened his mouth, you'll find a coin.
Take that and give it to them for you and me.
When the disciples saw this, they did what any good Bible character would do: they fell on their faces.
Jesus says that John the Baptist was Elijah. But if so, then why did John the Baptist deny it in John 1:21? And what did John the Baptist restore?
A man brings his epileptic ("lunatic") son to Jesus to cure, saying that Jesus's disciples tried but couldn't cast out the devil.
Jesus rails against his disciples and their "faithless and perverse generation" and asks how long he will have to be around them.
He then cures the "lunatic" by casting out the devil and explains to his "faithless and perverse" disciples that some devils require prayer and fasting.
He assures them, however, that they can do anything with faith, including move mountains around.
This verse was not in the original text, but was added later by a scribe to make it conform with Mark 9:29. That's why many modern translations omit it.
