9 1 As Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from birth.
2 His disciples asked him,
Why was this man born blind?
Was it because of his or his parents' sins.
3 Jesus said,
No, he isn't blind because of his or his parents sins.
But so God's works could be shown in him.
6 Jesus spit on the ground, made mud out of his spittle, rubbed it in the eyes of the blind man, and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam.” After the man did that, he could see.
35 Jesus said to the man who he healed, "Do you believe in the Son of God?"
36 He answered, "Who is he? If I knew I'd believe in him."
37 Jesus said, "You're talking to him."
38 He said, "OK then. I believe."
39 Jesus said, "I came into this world to judge people, to make blind people see, and to blind people who can see."
40 The Pharisees said, "So are we blind?"
41 Jesus said,
If you were blind you would have no sin.
But you can see, so your sin remains.
10 1 Jesus said,
Whoever enters the sheep pen without going through the door is a thief and a robber.
2 But the shepherd enters through the door.
3 The sheep hear his voice, and he calls them all by name.
6 When Jesus said these words, no one knew what he was talking about.
7-8 So Jesus explained,
All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't hear them.
9 I'm the door. Whoever enters through me will be saved.
11 I am the good shepherd, who gives his life for the sheep.
14 I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.
16 I have other sheep, who aren't in this flock.
But there will be one flock and one shepherd.
17 My Father loves me because I am willing to die, so that I will live again.
18 No one is taking my life from me.
19 The Jews disagreed about what Jesus said.
20 Many said, "He has a devil and is insane. Why listen to him?"
21 But others said,
These aren't the words of someone possessed by the devil.
Can the devil make blind people see?
22 Jesus went to the temple on the feast of the dedication.
24 The Jews came to him and said,
How long will you keep us guessing?
Are you the Christ? Answer us directly.
Jesus said,
25 I told you, but you didn't believe me.
The works I do in my Father's name are my witnesses.
26 But you won't believe, because you're not my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and no one will pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father gave them to me, and no one will pluck them out of his hand, either.
30 My Father and I are one.
31 Then the Jews picked up stones to stone him.
32 Jesus said, “Are you going to stone me for my good works?”
33 The Jews answered,
Not for your good works but for blasphemy.
Because you are a man who claims to be God.
34 Jesus said
Isn't it written in your law, "Ye are gods"?
38 If you can't believe in me, believe in the works that I do.
The Father is in me, and I'm in him.
39 They tried to arrest him, but he escaped.
40 He went across the Jordan, where John the Baptist baptized.
42 And many believed in him there.
