0 SAB 1 Timothy 2

I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 2:12

Trivia: According to 1 Timothy 4, how will you know that the end is near?

1 Timothy

CHAPTER 2

I'm an ordained preacher and apostle
(I'm not lying about that)
2:1-7

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Pray for everyone. [1]

4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Because God wants everyone to be saved. [2]

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

The man Jesus [3]

is the only mediator between God and humans,

6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

who gave himself to ransom everyone. [4]

7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not,) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

I am an ordained preacher and apostle.

(I'm not lying about that.)

Women may not teach or have authority over men
(but they'll be saved in childbirth)
2:8-15

8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

I want men to pray everywhere. [5]

9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Women should dress modestly, without braiding their hair,

or wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothing. [6]

11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

They should learn in silence with full submission.

12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

But I forbid them to teach or have authority over a man. [7]

They must be silent.

13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

Because Adam was made first, then Eve. [8]

14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

And Adam wasn't deceived, Eve was. So she's to blame.

15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

But women will be saved by childbearing. [9]

(If they're faithful, charitable, holy, and sober.)
