2Did He not bring their stratagem to naught,
Did you see how your Lord [Allah] dealt with the owners of the Elephant?
3 And send against them swarms of flying creatures,
4Which pelted them with stones of baked clay,
5And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)?
He sent swarms of flying creatures, [1]
who dropped stones and baked clay on them,
making them like crops eaten by cattle.
Notes
Allah sent swarms of flying creatures (birds, bats, insects?) that dropped stones on the owners of the elephant.
