4 1 Sometime later, I looked and saw an open door in heaven.
And I heard a voice that sounded like a trumpet say to me,
Come here and I'll show you things that will happen.
2 Immediately I was in the spirit, and I saw someone sitting on a throne in heaven.
3 The person looked like jasper and a sardine stone, with an emerald rainbow around the throne.
4 There were 24 elders sitting nearby with gold crowns on their heads.
5 From out of the throne came thunder, lightning, and voices.
There were seven lamps which are the seven spirits of God.
6 There was a sea of glass in front of the throne, and four beasts, full of eyes in front and behind.
7 The four beasts were: a lion, a calf, a man's face, and a flying eagle.
8 Each of the beasts had six wings, full of eyes, saying nonstop, night and day,
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
10 The 24 elders threw down their crowns and said,
11 You've created everything for your pleasure.
5 1 The person on the throne held a book that had seven seals.
2 A strong angel said with a loud voice, "Who can open the book and its seals?"
3 No one in heaven or earth could open the book
4 So I started crying.
5 One of the elders said to me,
Don't cry. The lion from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, will open the book and its seven seals.
6 A dead lamb with seven horns and seven eyes (which are the seven spirits of God that were sent to earth) stood amid the elders and beasts.
7 He took the book from the one on the throne.
8-10 The four beasts and twenty-four elders sang a new song, saying,
You can take the book and open its seals, because you were killed, and your blood has redeemed us to God and made us kings and priests on the earth.
11-12 I heard the voice of more than 100 million angels, beasts, and elders, saying
The dead lamb should receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing.
13 Every creature that is in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and in the sea said,
Blessing, honor, glory, and power to the one who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 The four beasts said, "Amen."
And the 24 elders worshiped the one who lives forever.
