25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
A few more words about this episode
Why is there one tribe lacking in Israel? (21:2)
How's that for a dumb question? God told them to fight against the tribe of Benjamin and helped them commit genocide against them. (See Judges 20, Episode 98 for God's master plan.)
How will we find wives for the remaining men of Benjamin? (20:7)
Who didn't come to God's meeting in Mizpeh? (21:8)
They checked their records and found that no one from Jabesh-gilead came to the rotting-concubine-body-part meeting.
In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (21:25)
This is the most-often quoted verse in Judges. Believers use it to blame all of the atrocities in Judges on people - not God. But God condoned, approved, inspired or commanded nearly every horrendous act in the book of Judges.
