1 Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?
2On that day (many) faces will be downcast,
3Toiling, weary,
Whoso ... disbelieveth Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 88:23
88:1-71 Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?
2On that day (many) faces will be downcast,
3Toiling, weary,
Have you heard the tidings of the overwhelming?
On that day many will be sad and weary.
4Scorched by burning fire,
5Drinking from a boiling spring,
6No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit
7Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger.
Scorched by the fire,
drinking from a spring of boiling water,
with only bitter thorn-fruit to eat.
88:8-268In that day other faces will be calm,
9 Glad for their effort past,
10In a high Garden
11 Where they hear no idle speech,
12 Wherein is a gushing spring,
Others will be calmly sit in a garden,
13Wherein are couches raised
on high couches,
drinking from goblets,
17Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?
18And the heaven, how it is raised?
19And the hills, how they are set up?
considering camels, heaven, hills,
20And the earth, how it is spread?
21 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer,
22 Thou art not at all a warder over them.
and the spread-out earth. [1]
23 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,
24Allah will punish him with direst punishment.
25 Lo! unto Us is their return
26 And Ours their reckoning.
But Allah will punish those who disbelieve
with the most severe punishment.
