Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak .... If they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home. 14:34

Trivia: According to 1 Corinthians 11:6, what should you do with a woman who prays or prophesies without covering her head?

  1. Paul wishes that men and woman abstain from sex, but tells them to "come together" to avoid being tempted by Satan. 7:5
  2. Finally, after discouraging marriage for eight verses, Paul concedes that "it is better to marry than to burn." 7:9
  3. The Pauline Privilege: A believer may either keep or divorce an unbelieving spouse. 7:12-13
  4. "Else were your children unclean; but now are they holy."
    The children of nonbelievers are unclean. (But believers' kids are holy.) 7:14
  5. Those who are unmarried should never marry. 7:27
  6. Paul says that the other apostles traveled with their wives - including Peter. We know from Mark 1:30 that Peter had a wife, since Jesus cured his mother-in-law. Paul confirms Peter's marital status here.
