The LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan. 3:2
Trivia: How many eyes does God have, according to Zechariah 4:10?
1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
He showed me Joshua, the high priest, and Satan at his right hand to resist him. [1]
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
God said to Satan,
I rebuke you.
Isn't this a stick pulled out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Now Joshua's clothes were filthy as he stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
The angel said to those who were standing by Joshua,
Take off his filthy clothes.
Then the angel told Joshua,
I've taken away your iniquity.
And I'll get you some new clothes.
5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
I said,
Put a mitre on his head.
So they put a mitre on his head and put some clothes on him.
6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,
7Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
Then the angel said,
This is what God says,
8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
I'll bring forth my servant BRANCH. [2]
9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
The stone I laid in front of Joshua has seven eyes.
10In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
On that day, you'll call everyone your neighbor who sits under a vine or fig tree.
Zechariah sees Joshua in filthy clothes standing next to Satan, hanging out with God and an angel. The angel said to take off Joshua's dirty clothes and Zechariah said to put a mitre on his head. So that's what they did.
God said he would bring forth his servant BRANCH because the stone that God laid before Joshua had seven eyes. And anyway, someday people will call their neighbors under fig trees.
This verse (and 6:12), by the way, is where the Branch Davidians got the "Branch" part of their cool name. When David Koresh took over the group, he claimed to be the Branch.
