59. Can God do anything?
God can do anything.
When Sarah laughed at God for saying he'd make Sarah pregnant, God responded by saying "Is anything too hard for the Lord?"Is any thing too hard for the LORD? Genesis 18:14When Moses doubts that God can feed his 600,000 soldiers and their families, God says to him, "Has my hand gotten shorter lately?"And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? Numbers 11:23After God spent four chapters talking about all the great things he can do (like feed lions, restrain unicorns, and catch leviathans), Job says, "Yeah, you can do everything."Then Job answered the LORD, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing. Job 42:1-2When God tells Jeremiah that he will soon destroy Jerusalem by the sword, famine, and pestilence, Jeremiah and God say it will be easy for him, since nothing's too hard for the Lord.Ah Lord God! ... there is nothing too hard for thee. Jeremiah 32:17When the angel Gabriel told Mary that the Holy Ghost would soon empregnate her, she said, "How will that work, since I am a virgin?" But the angel told her, "Nothing's impossible with God."
There are some things that God cannot do.
God is powerless against iron chariots. And the Lord was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. Judges 1:19Jesus, whom many Christians believe is God, was unable to do any mighty works in his hometown. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, , save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. Mark 6:4-6And just like George Washington, God cannot tell a lie.God ... cannot lie. Titus 1:2
