Where did Moses get water from a rock?

The wilderness of Sin in Rephidim

And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, ... and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. ... And the LORD said unto Moses ... I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. ... And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah. Exodus 17:1-7

The desert of Zin in Kadesh

Then came the children of Israel ... into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. ... And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod ... and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water.... Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. Numbers 20:1-8

For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. Numbers 27:14

Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of MeribahKadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.... Deuteronomy 32:51

Note: That "the wilderness of Sin" and "the desert of Zin" are two different places is evident from Numbers 33:11 and 36).
