Mother's and Father's Day

Honour thy father and thy mother.Exodus 20:12

JWs are disfellowshipped for celebrating Mother's Day or Father's Day. Why is that? Why aren't JWs encouraged to honor their parents by celebrating these days? It would seem like a perfect opportunity to follow the fifth commandment, "Honor thy father and thy mother."
