0 What the Bhagavad Gita says about Food

There are three types of food

Food ... is threefold ... Hear thou the distinction of these.

Pure people eat foods that provide energy, vigor, health, joy and cheerfulness. Such foods are delicious, bland, substantial and agreeable.

Passionate people like foods that are bitter, sour, saline, over-hot, pungent, dry and burning and which produce pain, grief and sickness.

Dark people eat foods that are stale, flat, putrid, corrupt, left-overs, and unclean. 17:7-10

For humans anyway. Krisha digests four kinds of food.

The Blessed Lord [Krishan] said: I digest the four kinds of food.15:1,14
