First Corinthians: Selected Verses

  1. Thank God that I baptized none of you. 1:14
  2. It is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. 1:19
  3. It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1:21
  4. God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. 1:27
  5. I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus. 2:2
  6. He that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 2:15
  7. One saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 3:4
  8. If any man's work shall be burned ... but he himself shall be saved. 3:15
  9. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool. 3:18
  10. Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come. 4:5
  11. We are fools for Christ's sake. 4:10
  12. Be ye followers of me. 4:16
  13. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you ... that one should have his father's wife. 5:1
  14. Know ye not that we shall judge angels? 6:3
  15. Know ye not that ... effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind ... shall inherit the kingdom of God. 6:9-10
  16. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 6:12
  17. Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. 6:13
  18. Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? 6:15
  19. It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 7:1
  20. I would that all men were even as I myself. 7:7
  21. It is better to marry than to burn. 7:9
  22. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord. 7:12
  23. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. 7:18
  24. Art thou called being a servant [slave]? care not for it 7:21
  25. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 7:27
  26. The time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none. 7:29
  27. If any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing. 8:2
  28. Doth God take care for oxen? 9:9
  29. It is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 10:7
  30. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 10:8
  31. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10:9
  32. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 10:10
  33. All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient. 10:23
  34. Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 10:25
  35. Whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 10:27

  37. The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 11:3
  38. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 11:4
  39. If the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn. 11:6
  40. A man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 11:7
  41. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 11:10
  42. Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 11:14
  43. He that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself. 11:29
  44. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him. 14:2
  45. I would that ye all spake with tongues. 14:5
  46. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all. 14:18
  47. If therefore the whole church ... speak with tongues, and there come in ... unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? 14:23
  48. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak. 14:34
  49. If they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 14:35
  50. The things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 14:37
  51. If any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 14:38
  52. Covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 14:39
  53. Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? 15:20
  54. But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 15:35
  55. Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 15:36
  56. I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 15:51
  57. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss. 16:20
  58. If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema. 16:22
